This is a building I designed as part of a project for my drawing school. We invented our own city, which could be the set for a game. There is no game, we just did it for fun and for practice
The Temple is dedicated to one of the city's god's aspects or avatars - Akraal. He is the god of the sea, the one that the fishermen pray to. The faith in him is very much alive as he is present in the everyday prayers of the common people. He is impulsive and a bit capricious, but just.
The temple has two entrances - one from the main street and one a bit more discreet - led to by narrow stairs hidden in the mountain or cliff, on which the themple stands (the whole city is located on rocky terrain beside the sea). There are two ducts protruding form the temple's facade - they carry water from a spring higher in the mountains, from another temple. The water is then distributed into a few pools inside the temple.
There are two areas inside - one is located a bit higher and is accessed form the main street. There are steps for people to sit on and in the centre there is a platform for a priest. Water falls from three spouts into the pool surrounding the platform. From this area you can descend into the other one - it is partly carved from the rock. Its main decoration is the mosaic on the floor and three statues at the end, representing the god's three avatars. At the feet of the middle one, Akraal, people light candles when they come to pray there.
